Event Report – GTI Consortium Symposium 2024

On December 11, GTI Consortium Symposium 2024 was held at Toyosu campus of Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) in conjunction with the S-SPIRE International Symposium, which showcased the progress and outcomes of the S-SPIRE Project, a flagship initiative to enhance the university's research capabilities.

Theme Efforts in Human Resource Development through Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration: Prospects for International Joint Research
Outline Under the theme “Efforts in Human Resource Development through Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration: Prospects for International Joint Research,” the GTI Consortium Symposium 2024 aimed to widely promote the vision of the GTI Consortium. The consortium seeks to strengthen and accelerate international collaborations between industry, academia, and government while fostering global STEM talent and driving innovation.

Following an opening remark by Dr. Jun Yamada, President of SIT and Chair of the GTI Consortium, a guest speech was delivered by Mr. Tetsuya Shimokawa, Director, Office for Technical Cooperation and Talent Partnership
Trade Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The keynote address was presented by Mr. Akihiro Ida, Chief, University-Industry Collaboration and Regional R&D Division, Science and Technology Policy Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, who discussed the current state of industry-academia collaboration in universities. This was followed by two case reports:
Case Report 1: Ms. Natsumi Ukai from JETRO's Startup Division and SIT student UJWAL KUMAR.
Case Report 2: Dr. Bambang Pramujati, Rector of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Indonesia, providing perspectives from their respective fields.
The symposium was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, allowing many attendees to join.
