Social Thermal Applications and Engineering Laboratory
Approaching thermal phenomena closely related to society
In the universe we inhabit, the Second Law of Thermodynamics dictates that thermal energy is inevitably generated. Consequently, heat is an inseparable aspect of human society. Our laboratory aims to elucidate thermal phenomena arising in diverse societal contexts from interdisciplinary and multifaceted perspectives, thereby generating novel research seeds. Specifically, we pursue: Development of thermallresponse models for the human body under extreme heat environments, Elucidation of the mechanisms governing largeescale convection phenomena, Quantification of the energy consumption associated with Bitcoin mining. Through these themes, we integrate theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and experimental measurement in an organic, synergistic manner.
